Brontë Bed: Unfolding the Story
Special thanks to Tamar Stone for helping in the creation of this virtual exhibit.
In celebration of the 200th anniversary of Charlotte Brontë's birth, the Brontë Parsonage's exhibit, Charlotte Great and Small, explores the contrast between Charlotte's constricted life and her huge ambition.
Slide Show: From pillow sham to mattress, the individual pieces of the bed.
Each bed covering is embroidered with text taken from the pen of Charlotte Brontë. Letters written by Charlotte appear on one side and quotes from her books appear on the reverse. The subject of both sides compliment each other. A bed will be created for the rest of the siblings during their bicentenary years.Download the Brontë Bed script
